Post Architerra 3 - modify plateau
I am using AT3 with AC11 >> in trying to modify a plateau by moving a node, I am not able to select only a single node as described on page 58 of the AT3 manual. When selecting a node on the plateau, all nodes are selected and the modifiy menu pane does not offer the option to move one node.

Hi Jeff,

you are right, we realized about this trouble two days ago (it's related only to AC 11).
I think we will be able to upload a fixed version today.
Please use the check update function (provided by our add-ons) later in the afternoon or tomorrow morning.

In any case, thank you for the report.

Post coloured area tool
thanks for addressing the plateau issue so quickly.

here's some others.

i found today that the coloured area tool may also have a problem > when i select an AC11 fill, and then select the coloured area tool i receive an error message " The conditiions do not exist to apply the command!!! "

also >> I tried to 'Drag Copy' a group of AT3 contour lines and received a notice that will not clear by clicking OK >> the Warning! notice (what does it indicate in english?) can only clear by force quitting the AC11 application.

Hi Jeff,

for the first case you made a wrong selection: you have to select the terrain and the fill and not the coloured area object.

For the second issue I will check it. The workaround I can suggest you is to unlink the contour line object by using the proper ArchiTerra tool or directly explode it.

Best regard

Post re fill and coloured area tool
yes, i am following the manual's instructions this way >

As the manual directs on page 101, I first select the fill and then the coloured area tool. That results in the warning notice.

I also tried selecting the fill and the terrain mesh, and then the coloured area tool >> and that too results in receiving the warning error message.

Yes, you are right: I just verify the manual is wrong.
In any case to create a coloured area you have to select the terrain/mesh and on or more fills then click in the coloured area tool.

In the first release of ArchiTerra 3.0 (but I suppose you are using the latest maintenance update available on our web site) you should also pay attention at the current default layer for the slab tool: this layer should be visible and unlocked.

Post coloured area tool is still not working
Fabrizio,

I have AT3 3.07 (2 July 2007) installed and loaded into current library in Add-Ons folder.

I have created a small new AC11 file >> a small, simple terrain mesh and a single coloured area on the mesh. All items are on the architerra layer and are unlocked.

I select both the terrrain mesh and the coloured area. I then select the coloured area tool >> I receive an Error window "The conditions do not exist to apply the command!!!" And, at same time, both the selected terrain mesh and the fill area are deselected when coloured area tool is selected.

The coloured area tool is not working for me and I believe that i am doing everything correctly. If I am not doing this correctly, I cannot see what it may be.

Also, you instruct paying attention to the current default layer for the slab tool; how is the slab tool's layer relevant to the terrain or coloured area tool?

Post big OPPS; my mistake !!!
All of my previous descriptions of the coloured area tool problems have been mistaken. >> I was selecting the SHOW DEPTH tool (thinking i was using the COLOURED AREA tool) after selecting the fill and the mesh. the "problems" were my fault, apologies for giving you erroneous information. I'm getting older and dumber, i'm afraid. You know the one about >> 'teaching old dogs new tricks'.

BUT, now i am being cautious in this report >> i have been trying now to use the SHOW DEPTH tool and i have tried a few different small models. i keep getting error report below >>

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Pen number is less than 1 or greater than 255
at line 419 in the 3D script of file AT3_CONTOURLINES.gsm.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

and the terrain does not show any depth.

any ideas??

Yes, probably for some reason the settings of the contour lines (this object is used also to create the Show Depth function) pen are wrong.
Could you be so kind to send me an e-mail (fabrizio.diodati@cigraph.com) including a PLN file with just the mesh and the wrong Show Depth object?
In this way I will be able to give you a prompt answer.

Post coloured area tool questions
I fixed the error problem by changing the colour area number.

New observations:

1. Each time the coloured area tool is selected, even if a new fill has not been created, an new line item for a coloured terrain fill is created. And, it is not possible to delete these unused coloured area descriptors. Or, is it possible to not have a new coloured area description line created each time the tool is activated witn no new fill created?

2. Which elevation setting for a coloured area takes precedent? Is it intended that the global elevation setting override each individual elevation setting or vice-versa?

Quite strange: we are not able to reproduce this behaviour in any way!
If you could send me the file including this trouble I could check it.
In any case, in the latest maintenance update of ArchiTerra 3.0 (for example those ones downloadable from our web site) provide you with an additional option (not documented in the user manual bacause it has been added at the last minute): on the right of the coloured area descriptors there is a check-box, if you enable it and then click on the OK button the related entry will be deleted from the coloured area object.

The global elevation value raises the object with the requested lenght (so all the coloured area are moved along the Z axis of this value).
The individual settings work just on the related coloured zone.
That means that each coloured zone is moved by the global elevation plus the its individual value.
