Problem with ArchiTerra Lib and different projects
Dear members of the forum and developers,
First of all I want to say, that AT is an amazing piece of software, and I thank cigraph a lot for it.
We are working on a quite huge terrain therefor we use a big machine (>3Ghz core2duo, 8GB ram, scsi-hd) and Windows7_Enterprise_64Bit.
The first time we import the data (xyz.txt) and create the terrain, painted areas and the contourlines everything works fine.
Then we changed/updated (as suggested by AT3) the Architerra_Lib folder and then the contourlines and painted area were disappeared. When trying to create new contourlines Error-Alerts come on the screen. Then we use the 'old' AT_Lib Folder again and everything was alright again. The contourlines and painted area appeared there where they had been created at the first time.
Also similar problems appear, when working on two different projects both with AT-terrains at the same workstation (and so the same AT_Lib folder in the AC addon folder.
It seems, that AT3 does not store the parameters of the terrains etc. in the AC-project-file (pln) but in the AT_Lib folder and so it needs for each project its own Architerra_Lib folder?! - Is this right??
Please help me understanding how AT work and what it need.
Looking forward to your answer.
Greetings from vienna,
Klaus

Re: Problem with ArchiTerra Lib and different projects
Painted Areas and Contour Lines are based on a macro automatically created/updated by ArchiTerra. This Macro, of course, is inside the ArchiTerra Library (the name is something like "CL0000972E4A43-EDD7-43DF-AE0B-77FE6F7C87C5657.gsm", where "CL" stays for Contour Lines and the rest is the Mesh Internal ID). If you update the library (so you substitute the old one with the previous one) or you move the project on another computer (forgetting to copy the macro too) of course you will get that warning/error message.
But the solution is really easy! Just select the terrain and click on the Update Data Tool this will force ArchiTerra to create again the macro.
In the next maintenance update we will change just a little bit this procedure: ArchiTerra will store this macro in the ArchiCAD Project Embedded library (of course this will be available only for the ArchiCAD version which use embedded library that means AC 13 and newer versions).
Friendly Fabrizio
